For fun action-packed days out, Sydney is full of surprises – from amusement parks to extreme outdoor activities, there’s plenty to keep the kids active and entertained. Check out our list of some of the very best fun days out in Sydney, because a fun day out = happy kids...and happy kids = happy parents!
Enjoy a little sun-drenched relaxation in a deck chair by the water or go crazy on the rides with your kids at Wet ‘n’ Wild Sydney. Jump into the 360Rush that’s sure to have you shaking in your swimmers as you climb some six stories and race the kids in two sets of duelling 360-degree looping water slides. Or have a go on Australia’s first ever Double BOWLSeye, after dropping through the chute into a huge super bowl you’ll be sucked through on a massive 123 metre journey. For those kids and parents with a need for speed, the Tropical Cyclone is for you, hitting super speeds of up to 30kmh on a jaw-dropping ride. As for the real thrill-seekers, you can soar through the air on the exhilarating Sydney SkyCoaster, the largest double SkyCoaster in the world, that’ll take you some 10 metres higher than the Sydney Opera House!
On top of having world class cable skiing facilities, Cables Wake Park also offers activities for the whole family. Be prepared to get wet as you have a go at wakeboarding, or race your way around the Aqua Park, a slippery inflatable slide, runway, and jumping pillow obstacle-course. When you’re satisfyingly water-fun exhausted, the picnic area is the perfect spot for a family BBQ.
At Penrith Whitewater test how fearless you really are with self-guided rafting, the challenging rafting experience that definitely isn’t for the faint hearted. Before each trip your river guide will teach you the basics of rafting, before ‘letting you loose’ on the whitewater. Each raft, which can comfortably fit a family of four, will be guided by…you! As the competition venue for the canoe and kayak slalom events during the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, Penrith Whitewater stadium is the ultimate venue for whitewater paddling, with 320 metres of solid grade 3 water designed to test the skills of some of the very best paddlers in the world.
Relive your childhood memories at the funfair at Sydney’s Luna Park. Zoom along the hair-raising rollercoaster, Wild Mouse, before reaching new heights on the Moon Ranger, or show the kids how brave you are by taking a ride on the Tumble Bug or Spider. Rides at Luna Park include some for all heights and all ages, but best to check their ride list before you go to prevent any ‘too-small’ tantrums. For something that’s a little less of an adrenaline rush during your Sydney day out, the Ferris Wheel at Luna Park has the views without the speed.
